The before-and-after effect of applying an epoxy garage floor is always rewarding. Under every circumstance, it always looks significantly better. But then there are garages that really have a lot of damage, require a lot of extra work, but the outcome is always impressive. This is the case with this floor.
The customer’s floor had been DIY painted a couple times, with some self-leveling compound thrown down as well. As you can see from the “before” photos below, it had fallen victim to settling over the years and suffered quite a few cracks. We cleaned those cracks, “chased” them and stitched where necessary. In addition, five large holes had to be filled and smoothed along the edges of the walls.
Often times stairs leading into the house get covered with indoor/outdoor carpet which was the case in this garage. We removed the carpet, stripped the glue off, and ended up with a great-looking seamless staircase covered in the same matching epoxy. Each stair platform then gets a “grip texture” cast into the wet clear in order to provide traction.
